Research map

The research map: norms, decisions and their citations at a glance

For a question, Klaracase shows the relevant norms, the decisions that rely on them and the citations between those decisions. Every entry leads to its source. Below you see the real map for example questions that we measured once.

What the map shows

What the map shows and what it does not

The map shows sources. All text and details come from the statutes and decisions themselves.

The map shows

  • the norms found for the question, with the wording of the statute
  • the decisions that rely on these norms, with court, date, docket number, outcome and headnote
  • the citations between decisions, where one decision cites another
  • a marker when a later decision quashed a decision and the corpus records it

The map does not show

  • all decisions on the topic: the map is an excerpt from the Klaracase corpus
  • whether a decision without a marker still holds: a missing marker says nothing about it
  • text written by a model: everything on the map comes from statute and decision
  • legal advice: the map shows sources, not an assessment of your case

The figures in the demo count what is on this map, not the whole corpus.
